The real estate market in North America is vast, like an ocean. And in the small pond that is New Brunswick real estate, the greater Moncton area will retain bragging rights for another year. But it wasn't always this way. Before the turn of the millennium, the Saint John area held bragging rights for as long as I can remember.

However the new millennium has been the Moncton area's time to shine with respect to real estate market activity. It's nice to have bragging rights.

Total MLS® sales to the end of November:

• Moncton: Unit sales - 3,127 / Volume - $ 407,288,854

• Fredericton: Unit sales - 2,678 / Volume - $ 355,904,430

• Saint John: Unit sales - 2,429  / Volume - $ 338,335,156

And, 2007 will be the first year New Brunswick MLS® real estate sales exceed the billion dollar mark.
