My Predictions For Moncton Real Estate in 2009

A new year often means a new beginning. And there are a lot of new beginnings in store for real estate in the Metro Moncton area. I predict that 2009 will see:

  • A banner year for commercial real estate construction.
  • A somewhat slower year for new residential housing construction.
  • A somewhat slower year for sales of existing housing.
  • Another solid year for sales of new housing.
  • For the most part buyers will have their way with the real estate market.
  • 2009 will be another positive year for net migration to the Moncton CMA.

My predictions are based on two assumptions, that interest rates will remain low and that the employment rate will be stable.

    Hi Larry,
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.
It looks to me that Moncton is going to have a fantastic 2009.
Maybe we can mutually critique our Moncton and Fredericton predictions on Dec.31/09.
It would be fun. Perhaps it will assist us in our 2010 predictions!
    Cheers,
    Phil.

Thanks Phil and Happy New Year back at you.
Yes, we'll have sense of our accuracy soon enough, and it will be in less than twelve months.

Predicting is a dangerous thing Larry but looks like you've taken a pretty safe route! Glad to hear your market is holding up.
I just popped in to say a big Happy New Year to you with my very best wishes for a successful 2009 both personally and professionally.

Thanks for your comments Marg. I'm confident there will be no meltdown in the local real estate market this year. The confidence level of Buyers continues to be good. This market is Buyer advantaged and savvy  Buyers and their Agents will use that as leverage.
